Angela Centola – Classical and Flamenco Guitar
ANGELA CENTOLA is a classical and flamenco guitarist, from Napoli, Italy.
She studied classic guitar at the Conservatorio in Alessandria with Master Guido Margaria, graduating with honors.
She also graduated with honors in guitar and music of the Nineteenth century at the Conservatorio in Novara with the musicologist Mario Dell’Ara.
She approached the flamenco guitar in Spain, at the International Guitar Festival of Cordoba, with Manolo Sanlucar and Rafael Riqueni.
She attended masterclasses with Oscar Herrero, Manuel Granados, Giovanni Lorenzo, Livio Gianola and Juan Martín.
She was the first woman in Italy to graduate, with honors, in Flamenco guitar at Terni’s Conservatorio.
At the “ Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado” in Milan she accomplishes a musical high specialization with Aldo Minella, afterwards in France, she also perfects her technique with Marc and Eric Franceries reaching an honor degree.
In the course of her career, she has been awarded many national and international classic guitar first-place prizes, among which Asti, Genova, Varenna, Viareggio, Nova Milanese, Acqui Terme. She also has been honored with a merit degree at Milan’s International music competition.
In 2005 she played live in Radio Vaticana in a guitars’ octet performing music by Roland Dyens. She then has been invited back to the prestigious radio several times, she also got to be interviewed and have her music streamed in the radio transimissions.
Her love for guitar goes beyond the role of just performer, she tries to addres her passion even in the composition. Among her creations we can find music for solo guitar and chamber music. A publishing house “Sinfonica” will publish her works: “Quattro brani per chitarra”, “Luna Nera” and “Zante”, all of them published with scores and CD.
She recorded also the CD “Concerto” for guitar and piano with the pianist Dora Gribaldo. As a solo player she performed and recorded “L’Ame de la guitare, 10 brani, Gabriel” music by Sergio Coldagelli, published by Sinfonica.
She recorded, for two guitars, the CDs Sueño and Flamenco live in the Vatican, the latter recorded at Vatican Radio, in duo with Roberto Margaritella.
In 2020 she transcribed “Guitarra Solista”, 8 Flamenco Compositions for concert performers, music by Juan Martin, two books in tablature and notation, published by the prestigious american publishing house Mel Bay.
In the same year she composed “Diamante” dedicated to the duo Felicia Toscano and Luigi Picardi and “Tarantella gitana” to the duo Christian Saggese and Giulio Tampalini, for two guitars.
In 2021 she composes for solo guitar: “Palabras”, “Silencio” e “Pandemia”. In the same year she gave a conference-concert with flamenco repertoire and on her own compositions for “The Italian Cultural Society of Washington D.C.”
Angela plays abitually with the guitarist Roberto Margaritella and cellist Francesca Ruffilli and arranges most of the musical repertoire. She also works with the actress Silvia Poletti.
She plays with hand made guitars by luthier Luciano Maggi.

She teaches guitar in Omegna at the public High School “Piero Gobetti” in Omegna. She holds masterclasses in several Music Conservatories in Italy.
